The Winder GP14 comes in two different forms, for training and racing. Both boats come out of the same mould and can be raced but the training boat is built to be more robust and is regularly bought by sailing clubs and schools for training and courses.
Winder have been building GP14s since buying the mould of Speed sails in 2010. Since then the mould has been developed to improve not only its speed through the water, but its characteristics when capsized – previously a race-ending experience, not to mention making it pretty challenging for its use as a training boat.
The improved buoyancy now means;
- It is less inclined to turn turtle
- It floats lower in the water which makes it easier to get on the centreboard
- It is 95% self draining, meaning you are on your way with a minimum of hassle
Moulded from epoxy foam sandwich the hull is very light yet enormously stiff. They are jig-assembled in the mould to ensure accuracy and consistency using the same materials and building techniques as we use for our world championship Fireball and Mirror and National championship winning Merlin Rocket and Solo. All our hulls are post-cured which ensures rigidity across a wide temperature range. Standard colour is silver grey deck and hull (other colours are available).

The information below is for our ‘Complete’ boat which comes with Selden spars, Allen fittings and Pinnell & Bax dacron sails. We also offer Harken fit-outs, Super Spars and a range of other sailmakers.

Foils
Foils are moulded for absolute consistency of shape and stiffness, the moulds being taken from master plugs made with all our extensive foil making experience. The complete boat comes with a Winder centreboard and fixed rudder.
Spars
The boat comes with Selden spars. Other mast suppliers are also available.
Sails
The boat is normally supplied with HD dacron sails but other sailmakers are available. It is also possible to buy a cruising jib instead of a genoa.
It comes measured, weight corrected and calibrated, ready to win.

Boats can be provided in a range of options, from Race Spec, Training Spec to Bare Hull.
Race Spec
The Race Spec boat comes in silver-grey hull & deck as standard with Selden Spars, Winder Centreboard and Fixed Rudder. The Continuous Kicker & Cunningham are cleated at the thwart. The Pole height, Pole Downhaul and Rig Tension are cleated in the middle of the boat. Spinnaker Barriers and a Punp Spinnaker Halyard system fitted, weight corrected, measured and race prepared with HD Dacron mainsail and genoa, and Nylon Spinnaker.

The training Spec boat comes in silver-grey hull & deck as standard with Selden Spars, Winder Centreboard and lifting rudder. There is extra reinforcement, no spinnaker sysem, mainsheet jammer, cunningham or jib angle adjustment.

Bare Hull
